Devastated.
Not emotionally (don’t panic), just physically!
My plan this morning was to run 5 miles.
Miles 1, 3 and 5 were going to be hard work, pushing the pace.
Miles 2 and 4 were going to be steady jogs.
Sounds easy enough right? Not pleasant, but easy enough.
Our survey says…
❌️
In mile 1, I went for it. Ran the quickest single mile I have for a long time, 6 mins and 9 seconds. Exhausted, but chuffed!
Mile 3 came around… the tank was empty.
But still, I turned up the pace… The I turned the corner to meet a disgusting gale force head wind!
I wanted out. I wanted to quit. I wanted to stop dead in my tracks.
It’s easy to be positive when things are hunky dory, all going according to plan.
But how are you going to respond when the chips are down?
When you’re exhausted, deflated and demotivated.
When it’s crunch time, how are you going to respond?
Sometimes, the plan needs to be tweaked. The goal doesn’t change, but the method gets adjusted.
That’s what the best do. When things don’t go to plan, they lose the battle, but they can tweak the plan, so that they win the war.
If things aren’t where you want them to be right now, maybe the goal isn’t the problem, maybe the plan or the execution just needs modifying…
So what did I do this morning?
I stopped…
Just kidding!
I tweaked the plan. Finished the full distance but at a steadier pace. We win or we learn…
